The Escort and its sibling the Mercury Tracer have been updated for 1997. The new models receive all-new exterior and interior styling, a revised 2.0-liter engine, upgraded transmissions, and an all-new suspension. The updated powerplant produces 110-hp and 125lb-ft of torque. Platinum-tipped spark-plugs are responsible for a new 100,000 mile tune-up service interval. Escort comes in base and LX trim levels, 4-door sedan and 4-door wagon body styles. A 2-door model will be available mid-year
