The Catera is in the midst of the hotly contested "near luxury" segment. Competitors such as the Lincoln LS, Lexus ES300, and BMW 330i have made it a tough playing field. Cadillac has done a decent job of re-engineering the Opel Omega into the Catera, without losing its German character completely. However, in this cutthroat market, that isn't enough. While the Catera is competitively priced, it doesn't offer any outstanding attributes to make it a compelling choice. Perhaps, in the next model iteration, GM will address the small deficiencies that prevent the Catera from standing out in the crowd.
