The SL is the top luxury GT convertible from Mercedes-Benz. With a lineage that dates back to the SSK and SSKL of the 1930's, the SL is the benchmark in this segment. With power to spare, the retractable hardtop SL convertible is all about indulgence. Engine choices include two V8s and two V-12s. Only 5-speed or 7-speed automatic transmissions are available. The AMG models offer straight-line performance that can only be exploited on a racetrack or the autobahn. Various available "designo" packages combine interior and exterior trim in a color coordinated theme.

What Changed:

The 6.3L V8 joins the SL model range for 2009 resulting in a new SL63 AMG model. The SL also receives some minor styling tweaks for 2009. A new front end features new headlamps and a larger grille with large single bar. The side air outlets have been restyled and the side mirrors have increased in size. In the rear, bumper features a new diffuser. Inside, the SL gets a new steering wheel and a restyled instrument cluster.
