Overview Information
Ford has taken the wraps off the next generation Focus that is due in 2011. Unlike the current Focus, which evolved independently of its European brethren, the new model is largely the same as model that will go on sale in Europe in the same period. Details are somewhat sketchy as the market launch is still a year away. North American models will be powered by a 2.0l four cylinder engine rated at 155-bhp mated to a sophisticated dual clutch six-speed automated transmission.
What Changed:
The 2012 Focus is an all-new vehicle based on Ford's new global C-segment platform. Compared to the prior model in North America the new Focus is longer and wider by several inches. A new 2.0l four-cylinder engine provides the power. A new six speed dual clutch transmission is a big change from the four-speed automatic found in prior models. The five-door hatchback is a new model for North America.
