Infiniti
With the addition of a standard 7-speed automatic transmission for 2011, the Infiniti EX35 joins all other Infiniti models in offering seven forward speeds in their refined automatic transmissions (6-speed manual transmissions are also available with G Sedan, G37 Coupe and IPL G Coupe). That's not the only enhancement to the EX, however, with other changes ranging from standard 18-inch wheels and tires (previous 17-inch standard) to the addition of the advanced Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system as part of the Technology Package.
As in previous years, the stylish EX's sport coupe-inspired design and user-friendly functional utility provides an exceptional degree of "personal reward" for drivers and passengers alike. The EX's engaging interior features standard premium leather-appointed seating along with the exhilarating driving performance of its responsive 297-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.
Other enhancements for 2011 include new available 19-inch wheels and tires, revised instrument panel illumination and the addition of standard Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control on all models (previously EX Journey only). There is also new or revised option package naming and content. For example, the new Premium Package combines the previous Navigation Package and Bose(R) and Around View(TM) Monitor Package. The previous Premium Package is now named Deluxe Touring Package and 19-inch wheels and tires are added to the Deluxe Touring Package. There are also three new available exterior colors.
A Versatile Performer
The EX35's layout combines the look and feel of a luxury coupe and a crossover's flexibility - with sporty proportions, including a long hood, short front and rear overhangs, rearward cabin and smooth coupe-like roofline.
Along with its excellent around town maneuverability, the wide rear hatch and low load floor make it a versatile performer for both everyday and weekend use. EX's exterior includes many signature Infiniti touches, including a double-arch grille, large L-shaped headlights, available xenon auto-leveling headlights with Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), integrated fog lights, distinctive LED taillights and "dynamic arch" profile.
Other exterior features include a high-mounted rear hatchback spoiler with integrated brake light, chrome-finished dual exhaust tips, an available power sliding tinted glass moonroof with tilt feature, sliding sunshade and one-touch open/close (standard on EX Journey models) and available roof rails. The 2011 EX35 also features a standard courtesy light integrated in the driver's outside mirror as part of the hospitality lighting concept.
Six exterior colors are offered for 2011: the new Artic Blue, Midnight Garnet and Graphite Shadow, along with carryover colors Liquid Platinum, Black Obsidian and Moonlight White.
The EX's beautiful interior was conceived to offer an invigorating and engaging environment, one that is both indulgent and inspiring. The driver-focused "wave-inspired" cabin layout features an Infiniti signature "double-wave" instrument panel, easy-to-read high-contrast gauges with revised illumination and hospitality lighting with a pin LED light mounted over the center console and Infiniti signature analog clock.
The instrument panel also features a 7-inch color display with Infiniti controller for the trip computer and additional vehicle information, including the available Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with 9.3GB Music Box(R) hard drive for music storage and playback. Other technology systems include an available Bluetooth(R) Hands-free Phone System, and standard Infiniti Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition and XM(R) Satellite Radio (XM(R) subscription required, sold separately).
The EX interior is offered with premium leather-appointed seating surfaces, available in three colors - Graphite, Wheat and Chestnut.
The EX35 features aluminum accents, while EX35 Journey models offer maple interior accents. There is also a leather-wrapped shift knob, and leather-wrapped steering wheel with controls for audio and cruise control. An 8-way power driver's seat with 2-way manual lumbar support and a 4-way power passenger's seat are standard. A driver's seat memory system is also offered, along with heated front seats (standard on E35X AWD and EX35 Journey models) and an 8-way power front passenger's seat. Also available is a 60/40-split power remote up-folding 2nd row seat with dual controls (operated from the front or the hatch area).
The EX's available Bose(R) Premium Audio System includes 11 speakers (including 2 subwoofers), AM/FM/CD in-dash changer and USB connection port for iPod(R) and other compatible devices. The advanced Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System features Voice Recognition (VR) for audio and navigation, XM NavTraffic(R) with Real-Time Traffic Information, XM NavWeather(TM) with Real-Time Weather Information (XM(R) subscription required, sold separately), Zagat Survey(R) restaurant guide and Streaming Audio via Bluetooth(R).
Advanced Platform and Powertrain
Under EX's dramatic body is an equally advanced platform and powertrain. The FM (Front Midship) platform helps provide high levels of handling performance. Every 2011 Infiniti EX35 comes standard with a VQ35HR 3.5-liter V6 engine, rated at 297 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque, and a new 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, DS mode with Downshift Rev Matching (DRM), and Adaptive Shift Control. EX fuel economy is rated at 17 mpg City/24 mpg Highway for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models.
Superb handling is provided by a subframe-mounted independent front double-wishbone suspension with aluminum-alloy upper and lower links, high-performance dual-flow pass shock absorbers and stabilizer bar. The rear suspension is an independent multi-link design with aluminum-alloy upper and lower links and axle housing, high-performance dual-flow pass shock absorbers and stabilizer bar. Steering is provided by a vehicle speed-sensitive power-assisted steering system.
EX's standard braking system includes power-assisted front and rear discs (vented front) and standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). Also standard is Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System (TCS), while an advanced Intelligent Cruise Control (Full-Speed Range) is optionally available.
Available wheel and tire combinations include new standard 18-inch 8-spoke metallic finish aluminum-alloy wheels with P225/55R18 V-rated all-season tires or new optional 19-inch split 5-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with P245/45R19 V-rated all-season tires.
Infiniti EX35 AWD models feature Infiniti's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which utilizes an active torque distribution management system with an active center clutch. The electromagnetic AWD system responds more quickly than conventional hydraulic AWD systems, helping to minimize the compromise of rear-wheel drive performance characteristics on dry roads.
Standard EX35 safety equipment includes an Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS); driver and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags; roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags for outboard occupant head protection; and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Also standard are 3-point ALR/ELR seat belts (driver's side ELR only) and front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters and adjustable upper anchors, front seat Active Head Restraints and the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system for the rear outboard seating positions. EX also features advanced Zone Body Construction with front and rear crumple zones to help disperse crash energy around the passenger compartment.
New for 2011 is the addition of the Blind Spot Warning (BSW). BSW illuminates an indicator light if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area. If the driver then uses the turn signal, the indicator flashes and an audible warning sounds.
