Mitsubishi
Featuring expressive styling and advanced user technology, the Mitsubishi Galant sets a new standard for value and reliability.
The 2010 Galant line is different for a reason with two distinct trim levels, both feature-packed to provide the premium value that midsize buyers are looking for. The Galant is available in ES and SE trims, both powered by an efficient 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The MIVEC four-cylinder engine has been revised for the 2010 model year and now shows an improved highway fuel economy rating of 30 MPG. All 2010 Galant models come standard with a four-speed Sportronic(R) automatic transmission. Also standard is a host of handling aids for improved driver control during all situations, including anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), traction control (TCL), and Active Stability Control (ASC).
For 2010, the Galant SE comes standard with the Navigation & Rear Camera package. Adding value to the SE's already impressive list of features, this package includes a 7-inch LCD touch panel Mitsubishi multi communication system with DVD-based navigation. Also included in the package are Mitsubishi Diamond Lane Guidance and a rearview back up camera system.
The Galant midsize sedans, along with the Eclipse coupe and Eclipse Spyder sports models and the Endeavor crossover SUV, are all built in the Mitsubishi manufacturing plant in Normal, Ill. One of the industry's most flexible assembly plants, the Mitsubishi manufacturing facility is proudly celebrating its 22nd anniversary of vehicle production in 2010.
Smart Mitsubishi Styling
The 2010 Galant stands apart from the sedan crowd with a smartly styled front end and sophisticated lines that are especially apparent in the rear three-quarter view. A silver painted mesh front grille has been added for improved aerodynamics and sharper, more upscale looks. Standard on both Galant models are color-keyed grip-type door handles, rear window defroster, color-keyed dual power side view mirrors, and a glass antenna. New standard 18-inch alloy wheels, color-keyed rear spoiler, and chrome exhaust finisher identify the Galant SE model.
Inside, premium materials enhance the Galant's interior and passenger comfort. Galant provides a roomy midsize package with 101.0 cu. ft. of passenger space and a generous 37 inches of rear legroom. Interior fabrics and surfaces are designed to impart comfort, warmth and refinement. In addition, a wide array of available user technologies meets with the latest consumer demands for onboard entertainment and convenience.
Performance and Top Safety in One Package
A revised 160-hp 2.4-liter MIVEC four-cylinder engine, teamed to a standard four-speed Sportronic automatic transmission, powers both the Galant ES and SE models. The already efficient engine has been further refined for 2010 to produce a refined highway fuel economy rating of 30 MPG.
Four-cylinder Galant models sold in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York and Vermont are certified as Partial Zero-Emissions Vehicles (PZEV). That means that they not only meet the ultra-stringent California Super Low Emission Vehicles (SULEV) standard but also have zero evaporative emissions from the fuel system and come with an extended (15 years or 150,000 miles) warranty on emission-control components. The PZEV-certified Galant has just slightly less rated power output - 155 hp compared to 160 for the federally certified model. PZEV-certified vehicles can also be purchased in states neighboring those with the requirement.
The Galant's rigid body structure sets the stage for responsive handling and a sporty driving experience, balanced by a smooth, quiet ride. The proven MacPherson strut design front suspension attaches to a sub-frame featuring a large, rigid cross member. The SE model features a standard front strut tower bar. The low-mounted, multi-link rear suspension features stiff hydro-formed cross members that minimize flex and help reduce road noise inside the cabin.
All Galant models come standard with a high level of safety technology, including anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), traction control (TCL), Active Stability Control (ASC), dual-stage front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and side front and rear curtain airbags. Standard convenience and security features include an engine immobilizer and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which can immediately alert the driver to a sudden loss or change in tire pressure.
New Value Standard
Illustrating Mitsubishi's attention to customer value, the Galant ES models are equipped as standard with such premium features as power windows and door locks, 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat, and cruise control. Additional premium features in the Galant SE include an automatic climate control system, 8-way power driver's seat, sport-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, parabolic fog lights, chrome exhaust finisher, theft-deterrent alarm system, color-keyed rear lip spoiler, front strut tower bar, and an illuminated glove box.
The Galant SE model also adds a standard 650-watt Rockford Acoustic Design(TM) premium audio system that includes SIRIUS(R) Satellite Radio with a 3-month pre-paid subscription.
Adding premium features and increased value for 2010, the Galant SE now comes standard with the Navigation & Rear Camera package. Featuring technology usually found in more expensive competitors, this package adds to the SE's already impressive value with a 7-inch LCD touch panel Mitsubishi multi communication system with DVD-based navigation. Also included in the package are Mitsubishi Diamond Lane Guidance and a rear view back up camera system.
True Premium Audio
With an improved interior sound insulation, Galant offers a level of OEM mobile audio performance that could challenge some luxury models. The Rockford Acoustic Design(TM) premium audio system that is standard for the SE model provides AM/FM/CD/MP3 playback capability, including a 6-disc in-dash CD changer. The system includes SIRIUS(R) Satellite Radio with a 3-month pre-paid subscription. Both Galant models now feature an auxiliary input jack for playback from an iPod or MP3 player.
A linear 8-channel amplifier produces 650 watts peak, with a dedicated channel driving each loudspeaker for the ultimate in sonic control. Silk dome tweeters mounted on the leading edge of the dash produce a natural multi-dimensional soundstage. Digital Signal Processing optimizes output to provide user-selectable listening environments, including "Normal," "Studio," "Club" and "Concert."
