The classic roadster is back - more powerful and more stylish than ever before. It is the BMW Z4, the only car in its segment that combines classic roadster proportions with a seating position near the rear axle, rear-wheel drive, and a retractable hardtop. The new BMW Z4 is offered in the US with one newly introduced inline-4, the Z4 sDrive28i and two well-known and acclaimed inline-6 engines, displacing 3.0 liters: 300 hp in the BMW Z4 sDrive35i and 335 hp in the BMW Z4 sDrive35is to ensure truly outstanding acceleration and response at all times.
The new 2012 Z4 sDrive28i with its new 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder combines high pressure direct-injection and BMW's Valvetronic intake control with a forced induction system consisting of a single twin-scroll turbocharger. With 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, it offers more power and torque than BMW's normally aspirated 3.0-liter inline-6 that it replaces in the Z4 sDrive30i.
The new 2012 BMW Z4 sDrive35is is one of BMW's fastest and best-handling Roadsters ever, and has a turbocharger system that maintains a high output through the entire engine speed range. Nominal peak torque is 332 lb-ft from 1,400 rpm to 4,500 rpm. Maximum output of 335 hp is delivered at 5,800 rpm. The Z4 sDrive35is will complete the sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. The BMW Z4 sDrive35is includes new M Sport upgrades such as M Aerodynamics and Adaptive M Suspension.
The 2012 BMW Z4 offers three trim levels: an sDriv28i, the more powerful sDrive35i and even more dynamic sDrive35is. All models have a power-retractable hardtop standard with a host of other standard features.
2012 model year updates with specific standard, option and package changes.
The Z4 sDrive28i featuring the new BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine with high precision direct injection, turbocharging according to the Twin Scroll principle, double VANOS variable camshaft timing and VALVETRONIC variable valve control replaces the Z4 sDrive30i as the base model.
Options Automatic Transmission is offered as a no-charge option on the 30i.
Double Clutch Transmission price has been lowered on the 35i.
