Kia Motors America's 2014 Rio and Rio 5-door hatchback continue to offer spirited road manners, tremendous value and new features for the award-winning sub-compacts. Both body configurations offer an abundance of standard amenities, safety features and outstanding interior space. A combination of world-class styling and advanced technologies make the Rio line-up an exceptional value.

Enhancements to the 2014 Rio line include body, engine and rear bumper under covers, providing improved aerodynamics. Revised smart key styling offers a remote folding key design for convenience. The interior of the car features a new water temperature gauge and an enhanced leather-wrapped steering wheel.

Matching Rio's compact size is its minimal impact on the environment. The Rio is 85 percent recyclable at the end of its lifespan, and the Rio features seat foam material that uses 100-percent biodegradable and non-toxic castor oil, which benefits the environment in several ways, including reduced use of petroleum-based products. And because castor oil comes from plants, this material is generated from a completely sustainable source.

Available in three trims - LX, EX and SX - the 2014 Rio is offered with a 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder engine with the option of either a six-speed manual transmission (LX only) or efficient six-speed automatic. The 2014 Rio produces 138 horsepower with a fuel economy rating of 27/37 mpg (city/highway)1 for the sedan and hatchback. Meanwhile, Rios equipped with the available ECO Package provide enhanced fuel efficiency of 28/37 mpg (city/highway)1.

A sport-tuned suspension, front ventilated disc brakes, 17-inch alloy wheels and paddle shifters, give the 2014 Rio SX a sporty feel. Meanwhile, Rio EX and SX models offer a chrome front grille surround, power windows with driver's one-touch auto-up/down, power door locks with two-turn entry system, cruise control with steering wheel-mounted controls, remote keyless entry, and a tilt and telescopic steering column.

Impressive technology features also come standard on all trims, including an AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio unit with SiriusXM Satellite Radio capabilities2, and auxiliary and USB audio input jacks for connecting MP3 players with full iPod(R)3 and MP3 controllability via the audio head unit and steering wheel-mounted controls.

Available packaging upgrades for the Rio LX include the Power Package (automatic transmission only), which adds power windows with automatic up/down functionality on the driver's window, and remote keyless entry. For the EX trim, the available Convenience Package includes 15-inch alloy wheels, the UVO powered by Microsoft(R)4 voice-activated infotainment system, Rear Camera Display, automatic headlamps, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, power folding side mirrors with turn signal indicators, front fog lights, dual illuminated visor vanity mirrors, and dual map lights. An available ECO Package can be added to the EX trim when the Convenience Package has been selected, which add ISG technology for enhanced fuel efficiency. The luxurious Premium Package available on the SX trim offers a navigation system with SiriusXM Traffic, push-button start with Smart Key, leather seat trim, heated front seats and a power tilt/slide sunroof, giving it an open, airy feel.

Kia: One of the World's Fastest Moving Global Automotive Brands

Kia Motors America is one of only three auto brands to increase U.S. sales in each of the past four years, and in 2012 the company surpassed the 500,000 unit mark for the first time. With a full line of fun-to-drive cars and CUVs, Kia is advancing value to new levels of sophistication by combining European-influenced styling - under the guidance of chief design officer Peter Schreyer - with cutting-edge technologies, premium amenities, affordable pricing and one of the lowest costs of ownership in the industry. Kia recently moved up in the exclusive ranking of Interbrand's "Top 100 Best Global Brands" after joining the list for the first time last year, and the company is poised to continue its momentum with seven all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles scheduled to arrive in showrooms in 2013. Over the past decade, Kia Motors has invested more than $1.4 billion in the U.S., including the company's first U.S. assembly plant in West Point, Georgia - Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia - which is responsible for the creation of more than 14,000 plant and supplier jobs. The success of the U.S.-built* Optima and Sorento in two of the industry's largest segments has fueled Kia's rapid growth and is complemented by Kia's comprehensive lineup which includes the Cadenza flagship sedan, Soul urban passenger vehicle, Sportage compact CUV, Optima Hybrid, the Forte sedan, Forte5, and Forte Koup compacts, Rio and Rio 5-door sub-compacts and the Sedona minivan.
