The 2013 Concours d'Elegance of America, held at the Inn at St. John's in Plymouth, Michigan, is becoming one of the major classic car shows in the US. This successor to the long-running Meadow Brook Concours is now a much larger event than its predecessor, allowing a greater breadth of automotive entries from the early 20th century to the 1970s. Along with the mostly immaculately restored cars were exhibits of current sports and luxury cars sponsored by manufacturers and local dealers. Among the notable exhibits was a selection of significant electric cars from the past hundred years. The usual selection of Buicks, Packards, Fords and Chevrolets were accompanied by some rare gems such as a Studebaker J5 Express Coupe (pickup), a Tatra T87 sedan, and a Ferrari 206 Dino Coupe race car. Attendees were also treated to a wide assortment of classic 911s dating from the 1960s to newest versions. NASCAR racers from the early 50s to the 70s were a reminder of a time when these cars were actually closely related to their street counterparts. True automotive enthusiasts had plenty to see and appreciate at this Concours, and we have high expectation of this impressive next year.
