The BMW 3-Series is the undisputed benchmark of compact sport sedans. The latest iteration (internally designated E46) was introduced in early 1998, powered by a 2.5 litre or 2.8 litre inline-6. For 2001, the 2.5L gains 14 bhp (184 bhp total), and a new 3.0L six makes 225 bhp. In addition to the current coupe, sedan, and convertible variants, the new models for 2001 include the 325i wagon, 325xi/330xi AWD sedans, and the fire-breathing 321-bhp M3 coupe.
