Reminiscent of the classic Chevy pickups from the early fifties, the SSR features a retractable hardtop roof that is unique among pickups. The 6.0L V-8 provides the required rumble from the exhaust. A 4-speed automatic is the only transmission available. Based on the same platform as the Trailblazer SUV, the RWD SSR is far more stylish, although as a 2-seater, its utility quotient is none too high.
The SSR enjoys a number of updates for its third model year. The 6.0L LS2 V8 provides 390hp and 405 lb-ft. There are now two transmission choices: a 4-speed automatic or six-speed manual -- both from the Corvette. A number of other smaller improvements include self-supporting hood struts and a new engine cover.
