The Outback is essentially the mid-sized Legacy wagon with a higher ride height. Clean, chiseled exterior styling sets the new Outback apart from its predecessor. Available in multiple models including the 168hp 2.5i model and 250hp 2.5XT models. These models are equipped with the 2.5L 4-cylinder boxer engine. The Outback 3.0R models are the only US application of the 250hp 3.0L horizontal 6-cylinder. AWD is standard, but the specific system varies based on the model.

What Changed:

All-new Outback wagon is about 2 in longer with 1 in longer wheelbase. Power is provided by either a 168hp normally aspirated horizontal 4-cylinder in the 2.5i or a 250hp turbocharged version in the 2.5GT models. 3.0R models feature 250hp horizontal-6 under the hood. A 5-speed manual is standard on 2.5L models. A 4-speed (2.5i) or 5-speed automatic (2.5 XT) is available. The 3.0L model is only available with the 5-speed automatic. AWD is standard, but the specific system depends on the model.
