As the classic American sports car, the Corvette is power and style personified. It is a great performance value that matches cars costing twice as much. A 6.0L and 7.0L V-8 (Z06 only) is coupled to 6-speed manual or paddle-shift automatic (N/A on Z06). The Z06 has uprated brakes, larger wheels, run-flat tires, and lighter magnesium chassis components. Three suspension calibrations and Active Handling vehicle dynamics control are available.
Chevy takes on the Dodge Viper with the ultimate street legal Corvette: the Z06. The famous 7.0L (427 C.I.) V-8 returns to the Corvette in the new Z06 (although GM calls the LS7 a small-block). This special motor is hand-assembled for optimum performance, and redlines at an impressive 7000 RPM. The latest Z06 is the fastest car ever offered by GM: 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds, 1/4 mile under 12 seconds, and a top speed greater than 190 mph. Other unique performance upgrades include carbon-fiber front fender, 6-piston front/4-piston rear brakes, and a dry sump engine lubrication system.
