The mid-sized Lexus GS fits in to the Lexus lineup just above the FWD, Camry-based ES and below the flagship LS. Long considered to be the most stylish Lexus, a 2006 model year update pushes the styling cues even farther than before. The RWD GS is offered in two models. The GS300 is powered by a 245hp V6. The GS430 is powered by a 300hp V8. The GS300 is also offered with an all-wheel-drive system. A restrained interior is finished in wood and leather and offers a competitive list of feature considered mandatory on todays luxury cars.
New GS features updated styling that Lexus claims is a forebearer of more stylish new models to come. It rides on a 2 inch longer wheelbase, and has grown by .5 inch in longer overall. The GS300 features a new V6 that produces 25 more hp than last years model. The upscale GS430 adds 18 inch wheels and a more electronic control systems. GS300 is offered with all-wheel-drive which marks the first application of AWD in a Lexus passenger car.
