As the midsize sedan in Mitsubishi's lineup, the Galant is in a very crowded field. Although the optional 3.8L V-6 has plentiful torque, the 4-speed automatic cannot take full advantage of the engine's potential. Buyers looking for value will be pleased with DE and ES trim levels, which are competitively priced. The sporty GTS will appeal to enthusiasts, with its 17-inch wheels and manual shift mode automatic. However, compared with the Nissan Altima and Honda Accord, the Galant is a less than compelling choice.
