As one of the first midsize crossover sport utilities, the Highlander has been very popular with customers who don't need serious rock crawling, or towing capability from their SUV. A standard 155-bhp 2.4L I-4 can be substituted with a 215-bhp 3.3L V-6. Buyers trying to save on gas can look at the Highlander Hybrid, equipped with a 208-bhp 3.3L V-6 coupled to a 123 kW electric motor. Transmission choices include a 4-speed automatic with the 2.4L I-4, or a 5-speed automatic for the 3.3L V-6. Although all Highlanders are available in 2WD or 4WD, the Hybrid model is not recommended for off-road use. Popular options include leather seats, a towing package, DVD navigation, and a JBL(R) 6-disc CD audio system.
New headlamps.
