Even though the 5-passenger XC90 is the first SUV from Volvo, it has been extremely popular in a very crowded field. Volvo's well-deserved reputation for safety is probably partly responsible the XC90's appeal. The standard 235-bhp I-6 can be replaced with a new 311-bhp 4.4L V-8 for better performance. A 6-speed Geartronic(R) automatic transmission is standard across the range. All XC90 V-8 models have standard AWD for better handling and traction (AWD is optional on the XC90 3.2). Self-leveling suspension (Nivomat(R)) can help balance heavy cargo loads. Other options include: Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC), Roll Stability Control (RSC), Bi-Xenon headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and DVD navigation system.
