Jeep faithful will be pleased that the Wrangler Unlimited embodies all the traditional Jeep attributes, adding much-needed cargo room and two more doors. The Wrangler Unlimited has a stiffer frame, 116-inch wheelbase, and retuned suspension settings, which should help tame the infamous jittery on-road ride. A 205-bhp 3.8L V-6 couples to a standard 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. For some non-US markets, Jeep will offer a diesel engine and 5-speed manual powertrain option. Electronic Stability Program (ESP) is standard, with three settings for different terrain and driving conditions. Side-impact airbags are optional. A 368-watt Alpine audio system and optional navigation system are also available. Jeep offers the Wrangler Unlimited in 2WD and 4WD models. Serious rock hoppers should get the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, which has locking differentials, Active Sway Bar System, and dedicated off-road tires. Jeep rates towing capacity at 3,500 lbs.
