Lamborghini has staged a comeback under the guidance of Audi, and the Gallardo is a fine example of this collaboration. With a powerful V10 and AWD, the relatively compact Gallardo is a direct competitor with the Ferrari F430. Lamborghini offers the e.gear automatic transmission as an alternative to the standard 6-speed manual. Equipped with fat Pirelli PZero Corsa tires and 8-piston/4-piston (F/R) Brembo brakes, the Gallardo has the handling capabilities of a true thoroughbred. Standard ESP (Electronic Stability Program) keeps the Gallardo on track, although it can be switched off if desired.
