Porsche's iconic 911 variant returns for the 2014 model year. Unlike the prior generation, the new Targa roof is an automated convertible top that fully opens the roof between the a- and b-pillars. Compared to the prior model, the 911 has grown slightly in size adding 1-2 inches in wheelbase and track. The 911 Targa is only offered in all-wheel-drive "4" models with either a 3.4l horizontal six or larger 3.8l horizontal six (4S). Pricing starts at over $100,000.
Porsche's entry-level coupe is all-new for 2014. Although the new model is nearly identical in length and width, it is lower with a significantly longer wheelbase and wider track. The base powertrain is a 2.7l horizontal six-cylinder rated at 275-bhp. The Cayman S equips a 3.4l six-cylinder now rated at 325-bhp. Both engines are available with either a six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed automated gearbox. In typical Porsche fashion, styling changes are subtle.
New Executive models offer a longer-wheelbase variant of the Panamera. Panamera S and 4S models now equip a 3.0l V6. The Panamera S E-Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid.
