What Changed

Volkswagen's legendary Golfs receive only minor updates for 1997. The 2.0 liter four cylinder engine in the standard Golf receives an updated cylinder head design that improves fuel delivery. On the inside, cloth seating, a larger glove box, and cargo lighting are all standard for the Golf. The GTI versions of the Golf receive an updated suspension with stiffer components all-around. The updated suspension lowers the ride height of the vehicle by 10mm.
