Mitsubishi has never had much success in the family sedan market. Between the Camry and Accord juggernauts, the Galant remains a small player. In the past, it was obvious why Mitsubishi had no luck: the Galant was smaller than the competition and had no optional V6 engine. Mitsubishi has addressed these concerns with the current Galant (introduced as a 1999 model), by making it into a true midsize sedan with a 3.0L V6 option.
