1997 Cadillac Catera
Cadillac makes another attempt at the entry-level luxury segment this year with the introduction of the Catera. Catera is built in Germany off of a successful Opel platform. All Cateras are equipped with a 200 hp, DOHC, 3-liter V-6 engine. Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and traction control are standard on the Catera. In addition to driver and passenger frontal airbags, there are door airbags available in the spring of 97.
1997 Cadillac DeVille sedan
Cadillac has split the DeVille into three different packages for 1997. There is the standard DeVille luxury car, the Concours performance-luxury car, and the d'Elegance high-luxury car. While the DeVille and d'Elegance share the 275-hp Northstar V-8, the Concours receives the 300-hp variant. The 97 DeVilles gain more aggressive styling, front seat side airbags, numerous structural improvements, and interior modifications. Individual models vary in trim and options based on their target customers. Where the Concours receives a body-colored grille, its siblings receive chrome and optional gold accessories. The Concours also features Cadillac's ICCS traction and handling control system.
