- 1997 Chevrolet Corvette
- The long awaited fifth generation Corvette will make its first appearance at the North American International Auto Show. For now the only official news on the car is the all-new Gen III V8 for the Corvette. Gen III has aluminum heads, an aluminum block. The engine is good for 340 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque.
- 1997 Chevrolet Malibu
- General Motors is making a strong re-entrance into the midsize market segment with the Malibu and Oldsmobile Cutlass. The Malibu and Malibu LS make their appearances sporting a 4-wheel independent suspension and two available engines: a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder and the 3100 V6 (std. on LS).
- 1997 Chevrolet Venture
- The all-new trio of minivans: Venture, Silhouette, and Transport will be a serious challenge to the reigning Chrysler champions. The Venture comes in either a standard or extended-wheelbase model. The high-line LS extended wheelbase model includes dual sliding rear doors. Chevrolet distinguishes their version with an egg-shaped chrome grille.

- 1997 Blazers receive a new lift-gate option that allows only the glass to be raised. A ZR2 package is available for 2-door Blazers. The package stiffens the suspension and adds larger off-road tires. An electric sunroof is now available on all models.

- The Monte Carlo gains the Z34 package which consists of a new transmission and 3.4 Liter DOHC V-6 engine. An electric sunroof is now available as an option.
