New or Significantly Altered Models

1997 Jeep Wrangler
The jeep Wrangler is significantly updated for 1997. While retaining the same basic body on frame configuration the suspension, body, and interior have been modified. Wrangler now features a new Quadra-Coil suspension that provides more wheel travel than the leaf-spring system it replaces. The exterior has been redone with all body panels replaced except the doors. The front end returns to the round headlights of the Wrangler's predecessors. The interior has been redesigned. It features a new instrument panel, improved ventilation, and a wider rear seat. Wrangler is available in SE, Sport, and Sahara trim levels. Engine choices are limited to either a inline 4 or an inline 6. The engines are mated to either a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission.
