The Edge is a new sport wagon similar in execution to the Nissan Murano and Mazda CX-7. Based on the mid-sized Ford Fusion, the 5-passenger Edge roughly slots between the Escape and Explorer in Ford's lineup. Edge is offered in two trim levels: SE and SEL, with either FWD or AWD. All Edge models are equipped with a 3.5L V6 rated at 265 hp. A six-speed automatic is standard. With sharp styling and a bright color palette, the Edge is likely to steal most of its buyers from other Ford products.
The Ford Edge gains a Sport trim level for 2009. The Ford Edge Sport wears a unique body kit and 20-inch wheels. The body kit includes a unique front air dam, side skirts rear bumper. All are body-colored. Fog lamps, and smoked headlamp and tail lamp lens covers complete the exterior visual differences. In addition to the 20-inch wheels, the Edge Sport offers a 22-inch wheel package. The interior of the Sport model features unique seat and instrument panel trim.
