The Cadillac ELR is an aggressively styled 2+2 coupe with powertrain technology derived from the Chevrolet Volt. The unique gasoline/electric combination allows electric-only driving for around 35 miles. When the electric range has been exceeded a small 1.4l gas engine is used to extend the driving range to about 300 miles. The ELR is several inches shorter than the CTS coupe with seating for just four passengers. Production begins in late 2013.
The new front-wheel-drive Cadillac ELR is a small coupe with powertrain technology derived from the Chevrolet Volt. The system consists of electric traction motors, a large rechargeable battery and a small displacement four-cylinder engine. The ELR will drive on electricity alone for about 35 miles and then on gasoline/electricity thereafter.
