An all-new four-passenger coupe variant of the E-Class replaces the CLK coupe in the lineup. Like the sedan, the coupe is offered with either a 268-bhp 3.5 L V6 in the E350, or a 382-bhp V8 in the E550. Both models are rear-wheel-drive only and have a seven-speed automatic transmission. Unlike the sedan, there is no AMG model.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is redesigned for 2010. The edgier styling loses the rounded edges and headlamps that were once a staple of all Mercedes passenger cars. The new model is almost identical in size to the outgoing model. The E350 V6 model and E550 V8 model return with similar output to the prior model. Both offer RWD and 4MATIC AWD drivelines. A 7-speed automatic transmission is standard. The range topping E63 AMG sedan returns with 6.2L V8 that cranks out 518-bhp.
Mercedes enters the expanding market of small luxury SUVs with the GLK. The V6-powered GLK 350 is offered with both RWD and AWD drivelines. The 268-bhp V6 is coupled to a 7-speed automatic, which is unusual for this class.
For five years, the Mercedes built Sprinter was assembled in the US and sold under the Dodge and Freightliner brand names. With the dissolution of business relationships between Chrysler and its former parent Daimler, select Mercedes-Benz dealers will begin to sell the Sprinter starting in 2010.
The GL class wears a restyled front end featuring a new bumper, grille and lights. Styling updates also include new wheels and LED taillights. The model range consists of the GL350 BlueTEC and the GL450.
The S-Class adds a gas/electric model dubbed S400 BlueHYBRID. The electric hybrid system is added to the 3.5L V6 engine and 7-speed automatic from the S350. The hybrid system is composed of a 15kW electric motor hybrid motor and a lithium-ion battery pack.
The ML450 HYBRID joins the lineup. The ML450 pairs a modified 3.5L V6 with electric motors. The ML450 can drive under electric power alone. The ML320 BlueTEC model is renamed ML350 BlueTEC.
